What are Afri-Vet's "Edu-Experiences?"
"Edu-Experiences" are authentic wildlife e-learning journeys led by intrepid wildlife care warriors who confront real African wildlife crises every day. Students remotely join instructors on the front lines as they hop into helicopters to rescue elephants, rhinos and lions; stay up all night to tend to wounded chimpanzees and monkeys; spend weeks rehabilitating pangolins, mongoose and storks only to release them back into the wild in a bittersweet moment of joy, pride and loss.
Through AfriVet, they experience all that embodies the African wildlife care journey...the constant battle to keep a Range Rover running; the struggle with malaria-ridden mosquitoes and tsetse flies; the risk of encountering gun-toting poachers in the field and the jubilation of restoring a rhino to health. In the process they gain invaluable knowledge and skills that will give them an edge as they seek to get ahead in the crowded field of aspiring wildlife caregiving professionals. They build relationships with their African wildlife instructors, as well as with fellow students and guest professionals, such as ecologists and conservationists who help them enjoy a richer and deeper wildlife care experience. And they come to know animals that encounter emergencies, weeks of treatment and reintroduction back into the wild. Students feel immense pride as a portion of their educational fees contribute to the essential, ongoing work of African wildlife sanctuaries as well as to limited income Africans to participate in Afri-Vet's edu-experiences. And their journey does not end once they have completed their coursework. They remain engaged in Afri-Vet, utilizing it for continued networking, ongoing education, continued engagement with the full Afri-Vet community and for staying connected to animals being rescued and treated. |
